Rob and Leonie Take on a Good Portion of the World

I don’t think many people knew that an Australian couple were in town late October 2016, Singapore being the last stop on their map before heading home to Perth. What makes them different from the usual tourists is that both Rob and Leonie had at the time just spent a total of 3 ½ calendar months on the road, starting their ride from Dublin Ireland and going through a formidable list of countries. Starting out as an innocent plan for a guided tour/ride through China, it grew into a multinational adventure for the couple. The breakdown? Ireland, Wales, UK, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and lastly Singapore, where they gave the bike a thorough cleaning before shipping. Total distance covered? Around 21,000km, running through 2 sets of tyres and 3 oil changes. Since our community of adventurous explorers is ever growing, I thought it would be a great idea to reach out and hear from them first hand on their experience riding from Western to Eastern Europe, Russia, China, Indochina and a little bit of South East Asia. With the opportunity  I had to meet them and ask them about their experiences on this trip, I also found out that they are no strangers to touring and traveling the world.

After a week in Ireland for final preparations on the bike, Rob and Leonie kicked off their journey, day 1 being the day they rolled out of the driveway in good ol’ Ireland. When we met on the 22nd of October, it was day 88. How’s that for a leg stretching ride?
