Singapore MX Beach Race 2018: Dirtbikes invade Sentosa!

Slinging a motorcycle around in soft sand is bloody hard work, but it sure makes for an exhilarating show! Following last year’s roaring success as the largest motocross event held locally, the Singapore MX Beach Race returns to Sentosa for its second installment on 5 and 6 May 2018.

This year’s action takes over Siloso beach, where sandy towels and Speedos make way for the noise and fury of nearly a hundred rev-hungry dirtbikes. Racers must slug it out over 3 rounds in a point-based system to earn a spot on the podium. The 2018 race track is more ambitious in scale and difficulty – no surprise, since the maniac behind it is former Dominican Republic National MX Champion, Pablo Toribio. Aside from designing wild and torturous dirtbike races, he also trains international MX champions like James Stewart, so you know that even our local competitors will be held to lofty standards.

We say, grab a buddy to rub in that sunscreen and head down tomorrow for day 2 of the race action, when the best racers will be crowned. Tip: go ahead and get up close to the adrenaline, but don’t gape, or you’ll be scraping sand off your tonsils. Meanwhile, here’s a look at some of today’s highlights.

The photo slideshow is causing the entire article to move around while reading, a bit annoying leh.
